I have also included the web sites for the foreign country embassies; some times parents want to stay for a little while in Germany, England or the Netherlands before continuing on home. Although the tourist information is directed at American citizens, the web sites provide contact information to find out what will be required for your child. Some airports are no longer allowing overnight visas issued at airports as they did in the past (as a Kazakh citizen your child will need a visa to leave a European airport); talk with your agency or contact the appropriate Embassy.

Air Astana external link (A7) is a new airline that flies Boeing 737 aircraft from Almaty and Astana to Moscow, as well as a few other destinations outside of Kazakhstan and domestically.

Transaero external link (UN) Airlines flies all over Russia, Europe, and into Kazakhstan - Almaty, Astana and Karaganda.

Aeroflot external link (SU) flies between Moscow and Kazakhstan and 92 other countries.

Sheremetyevo Airport external link (SVO), Moscow. International flights arrive and depart from terminal 2; flights within the CIS arrive and depart from terminal 1; they are not in the same location. Air Astana flies from Terminal 1. Arrival from Kazakhstan is less hectic because it goes into the domestic terminal. In Russian and English.
Domodedovo Airport external link (DME) is mostly for flights within Russia and the CIS.
Novotel Hotel external link and the Sheremetyevo-2 Hotel are at the Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow. They have a day rate for those that need a room between flights; they also have a free shuttle that can pick you up at the airport or take you to Red Square.

Marriott external link has four hotels in Moscow. I can tell you from personal experience that the Grand location is wonderful. They are supposed to have an adoption rate, but you need to ask. On their web site, you get the adoption rate by entering A23 under corporate rate/promotional code; ATKD and A22 have also been used.

Sheraton Palace Hotel external link: more adoptive parents have been trying this hotel.

Adopting from Russia external link has information from adoptive parents on the hotels in Moscow as well as sight-seeing suggestions. This site also has information about Airlines external link that fly from Moscow to the US, and hotels in Amsterdam (if flying KLM you have to spend the night here because of the timing of the flights).
